On the morning of December 17, the opening ceremony of the conference was held in the academic lecture hall of the BAJIAOLOU of our university. People who attended the opening ceremony as below. Robert B. Trumbull, chief scientist of Petroleum Group, Potsdam Geoscience Research Center, Germany, Karel Breiter, expert of mineral deposit science, Czech Academy of Sciences, and Professor Elena v. Badanina, Department of Geosciences, National University of St. Petersburg, Russia, Wang Yanxin, President of our university and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hou Zengqian, deputy director of the National Natural Science Foundation and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mao Jingwen, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, and Rao Guian, deputy director of the science and Technology Department of the Department of education, Hubei Province.

Professor Jiang Shaoyong, director of Collaborative Innovation Center for Exploration of Strategic Mineral Resources and assistant to the president of our university, presided over the opening ceremony and introduced the basic information of the meeting. Wang Yanxin addressed a welcome speech. On behalf of the school, he extended a warm welcome to the experts and scholars at home and abroad. He said that this conference is the first International Conference on the mineralization of key metals in China. He hoped that the experts attending the conference would take this opportunity to have a deep exchanges, promote the development and application of exploration of key metal deposits and deposits exploration at home and abroad, and contribute more wisdom to solving the bottleneck constraints of key metal resources and serving the strategic action of prospecting breakthrough. He also introduced the general situation of our university, and hoped that the participants would take this opportunity to learn more about China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), deepen cooperation and promote friendship between China and foreign countries.

Hou Zengqian addressed a speech. On behalf of NSFC, he congratulated the successful holding of the meeting. He pointed out that critical metals are indispensable and important supporting raw materials for new materials, new energy, information technology, aerospace, sophisiticated weapons and other emerging industries, which have important strategic significance for the development of world economy and science and technology. In recent years, the United States, the European Union and Australia had released key mineral resources strategic initiatives. In July this year, NSFC also set up a major project to study the enrichment dynamics of key metals (2020-2027). This conference had set up an international exchange platform to show the latest progress and hot issues of key metals and key mineral resources research, which means great significance.
